Toynami Changes Robotech Cyclone MPC Price

Once again Toynami has pulled a fast one on us. The Robotech Masterpiece Collection Scott Bernard Cyclone was originally solicited with a retail price of $79.99, but we have just found out that the retail price has been increased to $220.00! I never received an email from Toynami about this before, but we got confirmation from them today.
Due to the huge price difference, we have no choice but to cancel all current pre-orders. We are re-soliciting these HERE and offering them at $199.99. We are still offering FREE SHIPPING in the U.S. and discounted shipping for international orders.

Hey Tam Toynami has once again shot themselves in the foot. There is no way they can justify this kind of price increase.

What amazes me is that all this time they were complaining about how expensive the Betas were gonna be. The Betas wound up being $149, yet we get Cyclones priced well over $200. I don’t get it.

Wow! The stock market crashes, and Toynami is going to save the US Economy single handedly by charging us $200 for an item that should be selling for about $49.99. Then when we get to the aftermarket, we will see people selling them for $500! I am just appalled that the CEOs can’t see that in a RECESSION, that raising prices on non-essential toy sales will KILL BUSINESS not promote.

It boggles the mind, doesn’t it? Also, I’m seeing toy manufacturers making much larger scale stuff these days as if these are going to sell so well. Every time I go to Yamato, I keep telling them they need to make 1/8 scale or at most 1/7 scale statues, yet they keep pumping 1/6 and even 1/5 scale figures that wind up being in the $100+ price range. They’re completely oblivious.

BTW, I know some others have pointed out that this is a completely different toy than the one originally solicited by Toynami. I’m very much aware of this, but sadly Toynami never informed us of what was really happening with this figure. From my understanding, this figure is now sculpted by Beagle and is not the original sculpt from Toynami. I strongly feel that Toynami could’ve done a better job keeping us in the loop.
